Challenger Program

The mission of the Pop Warner Challenger Division is to bring the Pop Warner experience to those special needs individuals.

Pop Warner’s overall goals are to enable young people to benefit from participation in team sports and activities in a safe and structured environment and by establishing a Challenger Division Pop Warner is providing an opportunity for everyone to participate in the great game of football.

Pop Warner objectives are to inspire our youth, regardless of race, creed, religion or national origin to practice the ideals of sportsmanship, scholarship and physical fitness as reflected in the life of the late Glenn Scobie “Pop” Warner. Pop Warner Strives to make the game fun for all boys and girls.

The program stresses learning lessons of value far beyond the playing or spirit days of those involved, such as; self-discipline, teamwork, concentration, friendship, leadership, and sportsmanship.

What does the Challenger program look like in Dighton Rehoboth?

The challenger program is for boys and girls age 5-18. Currently, we are only able to offer cheerleading due to low flag football numbers but we are hoping that changes soon! Our cheer team is coached by Kelsey.  She has been working with and building friendships with her athletes for years. She bases her coaching off of the individual athlete which gives each child the ability to shine! Our season runs from August 1st - October with practice being on Thursdays for about an hour. Once games start, the team will cheer at our home games on Saturdays. In October the kids get to have their big moment and showcase their routine at our local competitions! They are ALWAYS the crowd favorite!

Kelsey, the other volunteers, and the league truly strive to create an environment of fun and excitement for children with special needs and do amazing job at helping our athletes build social skills, self esteem, bonds, and friendships.
